Christian Sacred Dance

Step Into His Marvelous Light

A short excerpt from the chapter on lessons.

8: Reflecting His Glory

When Christian Sacred Dancers minister in dance they are to reflect the Lord’s glory. They are to be radiant; filled with his light! They are to shine like stars in the universe as they hold out the word of life (Phi 2:15-16). How can dancers reflect his radiance? By allowing the Holy Spirit to shine through every movement of their dance.

When an individual accepts the Lord into their life, they choose to give up their beliefs and embrace God’s truths. This act of giving up is sometimes referred to as "yielding." This is the first time a dancer yields to God, but not the last! Each time a dancer prepares to minister in dance, he or she makes a decision to yield their body to the Lord, "so that through them the message might be proclaimed" (2 Tim 4:17).

Several things happen when someone accepts Jesus into their heart:

- A veil is taken away that covers their face and heart;

- They come into the very presence of God; and

- They are filled with the Holy Spirit.

"And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit (2 Cor 3:18).

"For God made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ (2 Cor 4:6)."

It is his light, shining from a dancer’s heart, that causes every movement and facial expression to be radiant!
